Smart Repair is localised repair of small paint and body damage — without repainting the whole panel. Instead of redoing an entire door or bumper, we work only on the damaged area and polish the transition out into the surrounding paint. The result is a repair that is hard to spot from arm's length, at a far lower price and shorter time than a traditional paint job.

The method works best on small, contained damage. If the damage is larger, deeper or sits in the middle of a big surface, a full repaint is often the better choice — we always assess the damage honestly and tell you if Smart Repair won't give a good enough result.

How it works — and how long it takes

We clean the area, sand down the damage, fill where needed and mask with a smooth transition edge before applying base coat and clear coat in a confined zone. After curing, the transition is polished until it blends into the existing paint. Most Smart Repair jobs are finished the same day or the next, depending on scope and drying time — we always agree a pickup time when you drop the car off.

Smart Repair or a full repaint?

In short: Smart Repair is for the small, isolated damage, while painting is for larger surfaces, deep damage and whole panels.

What does Smart Repair cost?

The price depends on the size and location of the damage and how demanding the colour is to match — but Smart Repair is usually significantly cheaper than repainting a whole panel, precisely because we work on a smaller area. You always get a concrete estimate before we start, so you know what the job will cost. Many insurers also prefer Smart Repair where possible, because it delivers a good result at lower cost.

Stone chip in the windscreen?

A stone chip in the paint itself we fix with Smart Repair. A chip in the glass, however, is a different job — see windscreen replacement and chip repair. A small chip in the glass can often be repaired without replacing the whole screen if you act quickly.
